Root canal and homeopathy

Abscess of roots
It is very sad indeed that you have just been informed that the toothache that you have had off and on for the last several months is caused by an abscessed tooth.Decay has gotten so deep that the internal pulp (nerves, blood and lymph vessels) has been infected by the bacteria that have caused the decay. Those dreaded three words have been mentioned by your dentist-Root Canal Treatment.
What ever should you do?
You remember that your friend had one done, and it was terrible. What is worse some have mentioned that the teeth are really hooked up to the organ systems and to have a dead tooth in your mouth is not good for your general health.Along the same line, what about the silver fillings in your mouth that have mercury?
Is this toxic material influencing your health?
Maybe you should give up and have the tooth extracted. On the other hand, if you had an infected toe, would your sources advise you to have the toe cut off?
A very great concern is frequently voiced about .
dentistry and homeopathy.
All sorts of homeopathic providers have warned that dental treatment will adversely affect your constitutional remedy. How is it that your mouth is so different and complicated than other areas of your body? There is good news for the average healthy individual as far as the experience of this practice which has many years of experience in dental surgery; 13 years as a board certified acupuncturist and 12 years as a classical homeopath prescribing both for constitutional and acute diseases.Root canal therapy (RCT) involves cleaning and shaping the hollow chamber and canal system within our teeth and sealing up these areas with an inert, beautifully tolerated material called gutta perch(i).Thousands of RCT’s are done every day in our country comfortably and with great safety to the health of the patient(ii). In most instances, it is just like any filling particularly when the treatment is provided before any great infection has been allowed to gain a strong foothold. You may only hear about those situations when extreme swelling and pain have been present for many days; these are difficult to treat comfortably.Teeth that have had RCT function well, and there is no limit to the number of years that they will serve the patient. It would also be the view of this office that we do not need to use the mercury-silver fillings any longer; composite fillings can take their place nicely in the hands of dentists trained to provide them.Gold or porcelain/ gold castings provide strength for the weak teeth that need support against breakage. The average patient does not need to have existing silver fillings removed as a protection against disease
(iii). The dental profession has yet to develop the type of testing that is dependable to determine who those patients are that are very sensitive to the type of fillings in their mouth including non-mercury filling materials.
These sensitive individuals exist but are few in number in the average dental practice in this author’s experience. To lose a tooth in this day and age is a very rare occurrence. The goal of making the RCT experience comfortable is the objective of every dental surgeon. The use of *homeopathy* should play a major role in that antibiotics and pain pills work very modestly at best. One great problem that is arising to alarming proportions is the mutation of bacteria to become resistant to any antibiotic medication.Homeopathy is growing because it is so effective when the most similar remedy is provided without the traditional side effects that patients fear from standard medications. The selection of which remedy to use for the abscessed tooth is the same as for any disease. The information is gathered from the patient, repertorized, and the materia medica consulted. The Complete Repertory (iv) has 22 remedies in the rubric Teeth, abscess of roots. Two more have been added by this homeopath (Magnesia carbonica; Plantago) and more will be added in the future. To simply give Silica or Hepar sulphuris calcareum without study is to invite failure.
am-c., bar-c., bell-p., calc., canth., caust., euph., hecla., Hep., jug-r., lach., lyc., mag-c., merc., merc-i-f., petr., phos., plan, plb., Pyrog., Sil., staph., sulph., zinc.
Finding a dentist trained in classical homeopathy will not be easy as the numbers are small. There is a great amount of information in our repertories and materia medicas relating to dental problems. This has been placed by our homeopathic forebearers who were largely medical doctors as the profession of dentistry was just being formed.Today this information is largely unused as homeopathic teachers, both lay and professional, rarely mention dentistry. Communication needs to be opened up between the homeopath and the dentist for the benefit of the patient. Dentists will love homeopathy once they have been introduced.
